Product Design and Colors
These new Jordans are reminiscent of the 1991 commercial of the Gatorade sports drink featuring His Airiness dressed up in the colors of white, orange, and green. It’s therefore not surprising that the Air Jordan 6 Gatorade is dressed up in these three colors. Of course, the official shades used for the kicks are summit white, black, and team orange – but those are just the technicalities.
Suffice it to say, the color combination makes this Air Jordan 6 silhouette stand out from the crowd.
The white shade takes over most of the shoes, beautifully interspersed with the bright orange coloring. Air Jordan made good use of the layering approach done for the Air Jordan 6 silhouette, thereby creating an alternate color pattern of orange-white-orange.
The orange ends with the quarter panel however as the heel portion is done primarily in white. In fact, even the Jumpman logo is embroidered in white for the kicks with the word AIR included just below the icon.
The same logo can be seen somewhere on the center of the shoes, right on top of the tongue. Don’t be confused – the tongue itself is done in a solid shade of black. A diamond cloth of range is situated on top of this with the Jumpman icon embroidered in a strong shade of green.
Despite the colourful combinations however, Air Jordan decided to keep the laces white – allowing for easy replacement just in case. The lace lock is a beautiful combination of green and orange with a lightning bolt on the center – making it look like a miniature Gatorade bottle.
The unique and defining part of these shoes however is the inscription inside. The words “If I could be” are beautifully written underneath the tongue and the insoles.
All in all, it’s a very distinctive design. It’s safe to say that the Air Jordan 6 Gatorade is nothing like all the other releases made by AJ for the simple fact that the color combination is highly unique and unexpected.
Product Pricing and Release
The shoes should be out by October this year although Air Jordan didn’t offer a definite day for the release. What we do know is that they’ll be sold for $190 – making them within the typical range for these Air Jordan shoes. Considering their legendary status in Michael Jordan’s long career, the $190 price tag is definitely more than worth it.
